      Clothing
Glasgow comedian and actor Sir Billy Connolly famously said of Scotland that “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes”.
It’s true that no matter what the season, the weather in Scotland can be “changeable”. We suggest that you bring suitable clothing for all conditions, including a waterproof jacket and plenty of layers, particularly in the winter months.
Ensure you bring shoes that are suitable for short walks on rough or uneven terrain and, if you plan to do any hiking, we recommend appropriate boots.
 The infamous Scottish midge
In the spring/summer months, we highly recommend you pack insect repellent to keep midges away, especially in the highlands. While bites aren’t painful at the time, they can become itchy and uncomfortable afterwards.
 Cash or card?
Although all attractions we visit accept card payments, we would also recommend bringing cash with you. And…
Don’t forget a camera to snap the fantastic memories you’ll make on tour with us!
Tour Itineraray
Experience the best of Scotland on this private day tour from Edinburgh, combining majestic landscapes, legendary landmarks, and centuries of history — all in one unforgettable adventure.
Leaving the city behind, your driver-guide leads you west toward Scotland’s heartland, where our first stop is The Kelpies — the world’s largest equine sculptures. Standing 30 metres (95ft) tall, these shimmering steel horses celebrate Scotland’s industrial heritage and the mythical creatures said to haunt our lochs and rivers. It’s a modern icon and a must-see stop on any Kelpies and Stirling Castle day trip.
Next, we travel into Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, often described as “The Highlands in Miniature.” This region is a favourite for small-group day tours in Scotland, offering a taste of the Highlands without the long drive north. At Kilmahog, you’ll meet friendly Highland cows — perfect for photos and family-friendly fun.
We then follow the spectacular Duke’s Pass, one of the most scenic drives in Scotland, winding through forested hills and glens once roamed by Rob Roy MacGregor. A stop at Loch Venachar lets you capture those postcard-perfect views before continuing to Balmaha, a picturesque village on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond. Here, you’ll enjoy free time for lunch and a short walk along the famous “Bonnie Banks.”
Our final highlight is Stirling Castle, a symbol of Scotland’s royal and military history. Perched high on a volcanic crag, it was once home to Mary, Queen of Scots and played a key role in the Wars of Independence. We recommend pre-purchasing tickets online to skip the line, though tickets can also be bought on arrival.
After exploring this grand fortress, relax on the journey back to Edinburgh — a perfect ending to one of the best 1-day tours in Scotland, filled with scenery, stories, and unforgettable moments.
