      Clothing
Glasgow comedian and actor Sir Billy Connolly famously said of Scotland that “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes”.
It’s true that no matter what the season, the weather in Scotland can be “changeable”. We suggest that you bring suitable clothing for all conditions, including a waterproof jacket and plenty of layers, particularly in the winter months.
Ensure you bring shoes that are suitable for short walks on rough or uneven terrain and, if you plan to do any hiking, we recommend appropriate boots.
 The infamous Scottish midge
In the spring/summer months, we highly recommend you pack insect repellent to keep midges away, especially in the highlands. While bites aren’t painful at the time, they can become itchy and uncomfortable afterwards.
 Cash or card?
Although all attractions we visit accept card payments, we would also recommend bringing cash with you. And…
Don’t forget a camera to snap the fantastic memories you’ll make on tour with us!
Discover the magic of the Scottish Highlands on this unforgettable 2-day private tour of Scotland from either Glasgow or Edinburgh. Designed for travellers who want to explore beyond the city, this private driver-guided tour combines breathtaking scenery, rich history, and authentic local experiences — the perfect Scotland itinerary for two days.
Day 1 – Into the Highlands
We’ll begin our journey from your hotel in Glasgow or Edinburgh, travelling north through the stunning Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, where rolling hills and shimmering lochs mark the gateway to the Highlands. Crossing the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor, we descend into the haunting beauty of Glencoe. Learn about the 1692 Massacre of Glencoe and capture photos of the iconic Three Sisters mountains towering above the glen.
After lunch in the Fort William area, we follow the spectacular Great Glen, a natural corridor carved by glaciers that links Scotland’s east and west coasts through the Caledonian Canal. Along the way, we’ll stop in Fort Augustus, a charming village on the shores of Loch Ness — keep an eye out for its famous resident!
We finish the day in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, where you’ll be dropped at your chosen accommodation for the night.
Day 2 – Standing Stones, Battlefields & Highland Forests
After breakfast, step back in time at Clava Cairns, a Bronze Age site of standing stones and burial chambers — a must-see for Outlander fans. Next, visit Culloden Battlefield, where the 1746 Jacobite uprising came to a tragic end. Walk the moor, explore the clan graves, and visit the immersive visitor centre (£) for a powerful glimpse into Scotland’s past.
Our route south passes through the Cairngorms National Park, the largest in the UK. After lunch in Aviemore, we continue into Perthshire, known as Big Tree Country, visiting Dunkeld — a picturesque village on the River Tay — and finishing at The Hermitage, an enchanting forest walk with towering Douglas firs and the thundering Black Linn Falls.
A perfect finale to one of the best private multi-day tours in Scotland, blending scenery, history, and Highland charm in just two unforgettable days.
