  • Clothing
Glasgow comedian and actor Sir Billy Connolly famously said of Scotland that “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes”.

It’s true that no matter what the season, the weather in Scotland can be “changeable”. We suggest that you bring suitable clothing for all conditions, including a waterproof jacket and plenty of layers, particularly in the winter months.

Ensure you bring shoes that are suitable for short walks on rough or uneven terrain and, if you plan to do any hiking, we recommend appropriate boots.

    The infamous Scottish midge
In the spring/summer months, we highly recommend you pack insect repellent to keep midges away, especially in the highlands. While bites aren’t painful at the time, they can become itchy and uncomfortable afterwards.

    Cash or card?
Although all attractions we visit accept card payments, we would also recommend bringing cash with you.

    And…
Don’t forget a camera to snap the fantastic memories you’ll make on tour with us!

Excursion Itineraray

Departing from Greenock cruise terminal, this full-day shore excursion takes you on a journey through central Scotland’s most iconic landmarks – from legendary sculptures and royal strongholds to the peaceful shores of Loch Lomond.

Our first stop is the Kelpies, the world’s largest equine sculptures. Towering 30 metres high, these impressive steel horses guard the Forth and Clyde Canal near Falkirk. Created by Scottish artist Andy Scott, they celebrate the heavy horses that once powered Scotland’s industry and agriculture, while also nodding to the mythical water spirits of Scottish folklore.

Next, we travel to Stirling Castle, dramatically perched atop a volcanic crag overlooking the city below. Once home to Scotland’s kings and queens, the castle is steeped in tales of royal triumph, rebellion, and intrigue. From the lavish Great Hall to the Royal Palace and sweeping views of the Wallace Monument, every corner tells part of Scotland’s story.

After exploring the castle, we’ll stop for lunch nearby before continuing into the Highlands. Our scenic route winds through the Trossachs – Scotland’s first National Park. Known for its rugged hills, tranquil lochs, and ties to Sir Walter Scott’s tales of Rob Roy, this region is where the Lowlands meet the Highlands in spectacular fashion.

Our final stop is the picturesque village of Luss, nestled on the “bonnie banks” of Loch Lomond. With its charming cottages, peaceful waterfront, and centuries of history, it’s the perfect place to stretch your legs, take photos, and soak in one of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes.

As the day draws to a close, we’ll return to Greenock in good time for your ship’s departure – relaxed, inspired, and filled with unforgettable memories of Scotland’s heartland.
